KRISTY levandoSKi

Originally from New York State, Kristy grew up dancing for a traveling competition dance team. After graduating High School, she attended Montclair State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Dance. She then attended New York University graduating with her Master of Arts in Dance Education with a New York State Certification PreK to 12. She was a public school dance teacher for over 6 years in Brooklyn and Monticello, NY. After getting married in 2016, Kristy + her husband decided to move back into the Hudson Valley to be closer to family + friends.

Kristy has been practicing many forms of yoga for over 10 years but decided after the birth of her daughter that it was time to expand her practice into teaching. One thing she noticed after years of working in public schools is how desperately children and adults need a safe space to work on themselves.

THIS IS WHERE THE IDEA OF PHOENIX WAS BORN!

Kristy wanted to reach more people of all ages + backgrounds. She believes self care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity for a happy life + PHOENIX was created to bring that care to you effortlessly.

Kristy loves working with all age groups and abilities. She has a lot of background in anatomy, kinesiology, and psychology that she can customize any class based on your needs. After going through her own war with anxiety and depression from childhood into young adult years she has developed ways to cope and to find peace through expressive movement and emotional care. Kristy believes that guiding her students to find their true identity and developing self confidence is the driving force towards empowerment.

Self expression, creativity, tenacity, dedication, + creating a strong bond with her students are all principles defining her teaching style.
